Today's Tips Go Back
Make the Most Of Your Life’s Time

Eliminate one task per week. First, stop being compulsive about things that are not pleasurable. Then start spreading jobs around: Even the smallest children can learn to put toys away if you celebrate their successes. Stop saying yes. Agreeing to something just because someone else steals our spirit. Decide if there is a compelling reason for you to get involved. If there is, you can say yes with enthusiasm. Treat waiting as found time. Never be without reading material, a notebook for jotting ideas, or a small, enjoyable task at hand. Instead of going crazy, revel in those five extra minutes-a leaf, a child- this puts life’s little worries into proper perspective.

Worry time is wasted time. On average, we devote 30 percent of our time worrying about the future, and 30 percent replaying the past. Only by remaining in the present moment, the “now,” can we silence the voice chattering in our heads.

Take a breather. You are probably holding your breathing quite shallowly right now. A few powerful breaths through your nose, deep enough to round your belly, can calm your nerves and greatly improve your ability to cope.
